Actress Deepika Padukone has been appointed by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) as its new brand ambassador. She replaces Preity Zinta, who was until now endorsing the brand. BSNL is slated to pump in Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crores) in advertising and marketing.

Padukone, who has just had her third film release - Love Aaj Kal, also endorses brands like Fiama Di Wills, Pepsi, Parachute, Tissot, Kingfisher, Maybelline and Levis.

The voluptuous Meghna Naidu is quite happy being called $exy and makes no bones about it. Naidu found fame after the success of the music video Kaliyon Ka Chaman in which she danced to the Lata/ Jay-z remix song. She is featured in the Saru Maini Video Dil De Diya Tha (Sutta Mix).

Bollywood siren Celina Jaitley is grabbing many eyeballs nowadays through her sizzling two-piece bikini shoot for a popular film magazine.

While many in the industry believe that Celina’s bikini photoshoot for Stardust magazine is an attempt to garner publicity, the sexy belle says the purpose of the shoot was not to milk any mileage but to portray a face of the ever-changing Indian woman.

When asked what inspired her in the first place to slip into a bikini for the shoot, Celina said it was a swimwear photoshoot of her favourite supermodel Kate Moss.

Celina is pretty happy with the quality of the photoshoot pictures. She feels her look in the images is much different from those of other Bollywood babes who’ve posed in bikinis recently.

Pinup girl Sherlyn Chopra has said a definite yes to the Bigg Boss. After Rakhi Sawant and Payal Rohatgi, it is Sherlyn who will provide the oomph appeal in this season's Bigg Boss.

Says a source from the channel Colors: "One reason why we were interested in getting Baba Ramdeo on board is because we got Sherlyn. So we wanted to create a Vishwamitra-Menaka kind of situation between the saint and the seductress in the Bigg Boss house. Unfortunately Baba opted out."

Bipasha Basu’s anti-smoking act has been recently seen on the sets of Pankh, when she refused to hold cigarette in hand for a song sequence of the film. However director Sudipto Chattopadhyay understood her concern and came up with a creative solution on it.

Bipasha is well known in the industry as to never drink or smoke. She is health conscious and so refused to smoke a cigarette for a scene thinking that it might promote smoking into audience. “The director of the film wanted Bipasha to smoke on screen for a vital sequence. However, Bipasha flatly refused as she does not encourage smoking and hates it. She was not in favour of the scene and if she smokes, it meant that she would be promoting smoking. After that, Sudipto even gave her the option of holding a cigarette, but she refused that as well. Sudipto understood her point of view and agreed to shoot the scene differently,” a source said.

The actress confirmed it and explained her point, “I don’t smoke and I don’t encourage smoking. Unless it’s absolutely essential to smoke for my role, I wouldn’t agree to do it. In Pankh, it was not essential, hence I refused. I had also refused to smoke in one of my earlier films, Corporate. If my role is that of an addict, then I will do whatever the character and the role demands, which was not the case with Pankh.”

The director agreed to Bips point of view and planned something else for the scene. “It was a song sequence with a smoky atmosphere. We wanted to show that when she starts singing, smoke comes out of her mouth. However, she had a very valid point that smoking was a very politically incorrect thing to do. She said that she does not endorse smoking and she did not endorse John doing No Smoking. She had never smoked in her life. We can’t fake smoking like we do with drinking. So, eventually, we placed a canister jar in front of her which emitted smoke and we framed it in such a way that when she sings, it seems that the smoke is coming out of her mouth,” said the director.

Also the producer of the film, Sanjay Gupta said, “It’s the question of an actor being comfortable. Bipasha had some inhibitions about it and it’s perfectly fine.”

May be Bips is inspired from beau John Abraham for fitness and no smoking mantra. John earlier had done a film titled No Smoking, showing rehabilitation of smoking addicts in different way.

Millions of fans from country and abroad admire Shah Rukh Khan as their favorite superstar. However he is also an inspiration or guru to some of them. And one of them is actress Sameera Reddy. Shah Rukh is well known for his witty and intellectual personality. Sameera admits that she adopts SRK’s philosophies about life. She even feels that he acts as spiritual guru to her.

Talking about one such conversation with the actor which made huge impact on her, Sameera said, “It was during a not-very-pleasant phase in my life, and I had too much on my mind. We were flying back after attending one event in Kolkata, when he realised that I was restless about something. And when I shared it with him, he said, ‘You will be subjected to constant speculation and talks in this industry and you shouldn’t take it seriously. All you got to do is know, accept and embrace yourself.’ And over the time I do realise that the key of happiness does lie in finding peace within oneself.”

Kangana Ranaut, the actress who always experimented with her roles is next set to play a role of journalist. Kangana’s character is of a bold journalist which seems similar to that of real NDTV journalist Barkha Dutt. The film has not yet got any title. Sohail Maklai will produce the film, while Mani Shankar will direct it.

One source revealed, “Kangna is quite excited about playing a journalist for the first time. Sanjay Dutt and Irrfan Khan are the two key characters who are in role of government agents from different walks of life, come together to raise Rs 32,000 crore in two hours. Kangna, who has a great fashion sense and is known to experiment with her roles, is very excited about her different look in the film. She will be chopping off her trademark curly tresses and sport a short hairstyle to look like Barkha Dutt.”

Kareena Kapoor’s zero size figure inspired an international pizza chain to think of a size zero pizza. Till five days ago Kareena was out of country. However she came to know about the news when sister Karisma Kapoor called to tell about the new pizza which her friends are talking about. Delhiites had already tasted the pizza and Kareena might be happy receiving such a tribute who also is one of the avid pizza lovers.



“I love Italian food,” says Kareena. “I must eat pizza at least twice a week; and yes, I’m flattered that a pizza has been named after me,” she adds. Later being little candid, Bebo said, “Honestly speaking, I’m no longer a size zero. I’m slightly rounded because I need to be that way for my role in Karan Johar’s Hindi version of Step Mom.”

Meanwhile, the size zero pizza features a thin crust with healthy vegetable toppings and low-fat cheese. And Kareena says, “It’s a misconception that cheese is unhealthy.” She explains, “My dietician has put me on a cheese diet for the longest time. Cheese has the right fat percentage required for the body and if eaten right, it can be advantageous rather than detrimental.”

Kareena Kapoor, as she grows older, is being more and more candid with the media. In a recent interview, she was more willing to talk about things like her diet, Shahid, and Saif.

Kareena said she is now a better - calm and stronger person now. She said, “I’m a stronger girl now, far more at ease with myself than I was earlier. I’m doing things, which I want to.”

Talking about her break-up with Shahid Kapoor she said, “It was a very difficult perieod. Whatever went wrong between Shahid and me is very personal. I have always maintained that Shahid will always be a part of my life. But, we are better off as friends. There is no animosity… Some times there are no reasones for things that happen in life. Even if there’s one, I dont think its right to talk about it openly.”

Moving on to Saif, Kareena says he is her perfect man. “He is fun and extremely loyal. He has all the qualities which I always wanted in a man. He is also very supportive and gives me space.”

Marriage she says will happen in about 2-3 years time hopefully with Saif. Till then she just wants to be with him

Finally, Kangana Ranaut has bagged her first endorsement project, and that too opposite none other than Salman Khan. Kangana has been chosen by a leading international shoes company Red Tape to endorse their brand of footwear which had been endorsed by Salman Khan so far.

Until now Red Tape manufactured footwear only for men with Salman as their ambassador. Now, the company is launching its female lineup with Kangana, who has already shot spots for hoardings and magazines and will soon be doing a TV ad with Salman Khan for the brand.



Apparently Red Tape has paid Kangana a whopping figure and has promised to enhance the amount by thirty percent in the next financial year. On being questioned about the reason for she being chosen for the brand, Kangana explains, “It was my my casual looks, I guess. The brand isn’t associated with formal shoes. Only sporty footwear, sneakers etc. They want me to endorse their shoes in my jeans and with my curly hair.”

Kangana is very excited about working with Salman, “It’s a good thought. I’m excited about the ad with Salman. I’ve always been his fan. I think he’s the only rock star in our cinema. I had watched him dance at an awards function and thought I’d be paired with him one day. It’s happening sooner than I thought.”
