Has anyone else come accross this problem? I wanted to remitt funds to India and when I logged in to SBI GLS web site I got the following message:

Due to regulations applicable in your state of residence in USA, we regret that, at present, we are unable to continue offering SBI Express Remit - US (our product using direct debit facility through ACH) till further notice.
We are engaged in meeting the state's current regulatory requirements, and it will be our endeavor to restore to you at the earliest the convenience you have been enjoying. Meanwhile, you may use the aid of Rapid Remittance (Web-assistance for tracking wire transfers) when you use wire transfer from your bank to send funds to your beneficiary accounts in India.

Also the remittance options menu has disappeared.

I am also facing the same issue and when I open up the page same message pops up. I don't know if it is something to do with VA state. Have been using Click2Remit(Kotak) and Remit2India for the time being.

I was eligible for EB-2 but as company wouldn't file any case in EB-2.

My lawyer suggests the best way to get it faster is to apply for a new EB-2 (fm a new company) and go for consular processing. I am still researching that option.

Case deatils :

Approved I-140 & H1-B extended for 3 years beyond 6 years because of approved I-140. Can NOT file I-485 because of retrogression

Next step H1-B transferred to new employer & redo Labor & I-140.


Question :

Can you file I-485 for both employers at the same time ???? & choose whichever comes first. Will there be any complicated issue if you filed I-485 with the 2nd employer after 1st employer has filed I-485

Bottom line ... How complicated will the life be if one changes job after 3 yr. extension of H1 based on approved I-140 ????

Please share your info as the attorneys are nuts..

Researchers from Wharton have discovered that female homeowners, on average, outweighed renters by 12 pounds.

Female homeowners were also carrying around more aggravation, making less time for leisure, and were less likely to spend time with friends.

"Home ownership can be a much more complex idea than just a straightforward expression of what we call the American dream," says Grace Wong Bucchianeri, an assistant professor of real estate at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The story was reported on Canada.com

But what about all the good stuff that comes with owning a home? Aren't homeowners benefiting from the security and independence of owning. Not really. The research shows that when you control for things like childbirth and income, the difference in contentment vanishes.

"I don't see any strong evidence that homeowners are any happier than renters," says Bucchianeri, whose 600-woman study is under review for publication in the Journal of Urban Economics. "On the other hand, they consistently report a higher level of pain — or what you might call negative feelings — connected to their home, and that's after controlling for all kinds of demographic characteristics, their financial situation, how many children they have and so on."


Bound to happen. Houses have been overpriced and House ownership has been way more expensive than renting in recent years. So if one buys a house there would be very little discretionary income to have a good life.

Quick question you said they asked you to submit your legal status papers since 1999 which was when you went out of country? I have 2 questions

1) Since when have you been in US, rather first time when did you come to US

2) Did you never leave US after 1999. This is because the status really matters only since your last arrival on visa. Earlier records do not matter as per 245(k) memo. This question will help other forum members who have some kind of status violation

It depends on the hospital's immigration knowledge. Most of the hospitals in the NY/NJ/CT/MA/CA where there are a lot of immigrants are aware of EAD.
So they prefer EAD over H1/J1 as they can avoid the process of application.
This is from my personal experience. Some states like Maine, New Hampshre are not even aware of EAD. In such hospitals you can take a chance with the expectation of getting a Green card and convince them with the Social security number. Also apply for your social security number once you get your EAD. This really helps if you need to convince the hospital.

Overall having an EAD is a big plus when compared to H1. NEVER go for J1. The waivers are very difficult to get and you'd have a lot of mental tension. I dont think its worth it, if you are planning to stay in USA. My wife stayed home for a year, when she was matched for a J1 hospital. She again applied the next year and got a H1.

Thansk for your reply. In the Residency application(ERAS), there are two categories:

1) Visa - J1, H1, EAD etc
2) No Visa requirement - Green Card/US Citizen.

If we check EAD, they will think that we need a visa which we don't
If we check Green Card, technically we do not have our green cards yet

Same here: Filed AP on August 1st and got the receipt on the 25th, but have yet to receive the I-485/EAD receipts, which were filed on July 6. What can we do?

My niece get a visa denial yesterday.
The consular said that she cannot speak English therefor they cannot issue a student visa for her to come to study 8th Grader in the US. What should I do to help her now. She really want to come study here.

Yes. she has a valid H4 Visa stamping till Jan 10. and she is landing in Dec last week.

The H4 visa stamp if remains un-expired on the day she lands in the US is anough document for her to return back. AP is not required.

Has your namecheck cleared? Mine took 18 months to clear. I am current, too, but no movement on I-485. I am thinking if there is no news by 10/15, I am going to start calling around.

How to know if name check has been done. Is there a number to call to confirm NC clearance?.

We had FP on 9/19 and saw LUD on 9/20. Called FBI yesterday and they say they sent results to uscis. Does it mean FP and NC clearance? Or NC is a separate entity. Please, let me know

What do you guys think? USCIS will listen whatever IV says? Also NSC received more applications than other service centers. So it is reasonable for NSC to be behind.

It goes to the FBI database. They do an extensive backgroud check on you for upto 7 years. They go verify your background in your home country too. If you remember they would have asked you to fill up a biographic information form along with the fingerprinting.

I have submited my FP all 10 fingers when I was working for my past employer which was a financial company dealing in Credit Cards business. They collect it when they issue badge as part of security and its a federal requirement for financial company. I am not sure if they maintain it internally or send it to FBI for storage does any one have any info?

This will be a problem for all the people whose cases gets transfered from other centers to NSC or TSC. May be it is just the receipt date of transfer notice... Not the actual 485 application ? A clarification from USCIS would help

I was wondering if you guys know any link on Dept on labor (or uscis.gov) that says that employer is responsible for all the legal(lawyer) fees. I work for a government firm and they only pay H1b fees that they are supposed to pay to USCIS. At the same time, they force me to hire a lawyer (I cannot file it myself) and they want me to pay for the lawyer.

I was wondering if you know of any law that I can show them and ask them to pay for the same.

Husband and wife can be on thier application as principal and dependant applicants on each other's application from their respective company

Can Some one on EAD claim Earned Income credit?

Why the lawyer need some information from your wife ? ( she no need to apply any thing , since your GC is approved ).

I think best way to tralk to HR dept in your wifes company and explain them. that you will get GC soon. If they need some proof show them approval email .

If they ask to fill i9 form show the EAD as proof for employment eligibility.



New company lawer is not accepting EAD, even though we don't have written approval confiramtion
